The MEGApleat 13 filter’s synthetic, electrostatically charged media has a high initial efficiency and is particularly effective in capturing finer particulate.

The media pack is bonded to a unitized, die-cut box frame at all points of contact, preventing dirty air bypass and promoting even airflow. The MEGApleat 13 filter also has a heavy-duty, expanded metal support grid to increase rigidity and help maintain proper pleat spacing. The VariCel RF filter, with its galvanized steel cell sides and plastic pleat spacers on the air-entering and air-leaving sides, withstands the most demanding applications. The VariCel II M/MH filter is constructed using the same high standards for efficiency and performance as the original VariCel II filter. The microglass paper media with water-repellent binder and the minipleat design are also the same as the original.

The difference is that the VariCel II M/MH filter is built with metal cell sides. It includes a metal header with rolled edges for safe handling and uses AAF’s unique interlocking cell sides and header.

Air filters are designed to trap and concentrate particulate air contaminants, including viable fungal and bacterial spores. The presence of antimicrobial preservative in the filter media is intended to preserve the integrity of the media throughout the useful life of the filter. Antimicrobial preservatives are not meant to increase the efficiency of the filter, nor to kill microorganisms “on the fly” as they pass through a filter. The smaller footprint of the VariCel M-Pak filter means that less space is required for storage. VariCel M-Pak filters weigh approximately 8 pounds, less than half the weight of 12-inch-deep filters with metal cell sides. That means reduced maintenance costs and time savings, as the VariCel M-Pak filter is easier to handle. Additionally, as a result of its reduced depth, the VariCel M-Pak filter is packed two to a carton, lowering freight costs and reducing the amount of space required for storage. The VariCel M-Pak filter also halves disposal volume and reduces disposal costs. Best of all, there is no performance penalty accompanying these savings.
